UPCOMING CONCERTS

Colin O’Brien: Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 7 pm

There are two distinct sides to Colin’s musical coin. On one side there’s a heart, and the other, soul. In a single performance Colin dances dazzling foot percussion while playing his heart out on fiddle and banjo... Then, taking a seat, he plays some of the most beautiful, soulful guitar music this side of mars. It’s as though someone introduced John Hartford to John Fahey.

David Rovics: Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 7 pm

David Rovics grew up in a family of classical musicians in Wilton, Connecticut, and became a fan of populist regimes early on. By the early 90's he was a full-time busker in the Boston subways and by the mid-90's he was traveling the world as a professional flat-picking rabble-rouser. Today, David lives with his family in Portland, Oregon and tours regularly on four continents. He plays for audiences large and small at cafes, pubs, universities, churches, union halls and protest rallies. He has shared the stage with a veritable of who's who of the left in two dozen countries; and has had his music featured on Democracy Now!, BBC, Al-Jazeera and other networks.

Beth Kille & Jessi Lynn: Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 7 pm

Two girls, two guitars & a ton of great songs.  Beth Kille and Jessi Lynn have a combined total of over 25 years of performance experience and 15 Madison Area Music Awards (both have won Female Vocalist of the Year).  These two successful independent solo artists teamed up for a Texas tour in April of 2009 and have added these popular duo shows to their solo tour schedules ever since.  Dubbed "Dirt & Sunshine" (there's plenty of friendly arguing over who is Dirt & who is Sunshine), their shows are a little bit country, a little bit rock n' roll and a lot of impromptu comedy.  The deep respect and friendship between these two popular Wisconsin artists makes for shows that are both entertaining and sincere.

Pete Honzik: Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 7 pm

Pete plays a unique style of finger picking guitar reminiscent of John Prine. His background in blues, classic rock, and jazz offer a great show for all listeners.

Dan Walkner, Derek Pritzl, & Bill Walkner: Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 7 pm

Currently, Dan is a member of Madison-based band Clovis Mann and a contestant in 105.5's Project M... more to come!

Red Star Express: Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 7 pm

Red Star Express features solid harmonies and splendid instrumentals from its gifted core of players. The band recorded its third CD showing a shift to Gospel Bluegrass in 2009. Musical arrangements feature harmony singing along with standard bluegrass instruments: guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, upright bass, dobro, and blues harp.

The Hollands! - Special Valentine's Show: Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 7 pm

The Hollands! openly and honestly share their love journey– offering an emotional, intellectual, and spiritual response to deeply moving issues. Jana's vocals are delicate and beautiful, she sets the mood and embraces your mind with her poetic yet ground level lyrics. At times Jana's sound can be rustic when she combines the strumming of the banjo or mandolin. Craig, a native of Australia, began his music career playing punk, including a 7 year stint in Ballydowse, a Chicago-based World/Punk band. When Craig is playing the Taylor acoustic, the rhythms are almost Celtic by nature. Craig offers the element of unique sound that pulls the music of The Hollands! in a different direction than traditional folk. Weaving delicate lyrics wrapped in brawny rhythms, their message is both visionary and authentic.

Patty Stevenson and Craig Siemsen: Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 7 pm

Patty Stevenson and Craig Siemsen were individually 'out there' enjoying their music, when, in the mid- 1980s, they met while performing at a folk music festival. For many years, the couple maintained solo careers, even after they married. Eventually, with the prodding of wise friends, they agreed to perform one show as a duo. The rest, as they say, is history. Known for their beautiful harmonies, impeccable musicianship, and moving original songs, Patty and Craig have been called "an acoustically good marriage" by Madison’s Capitol Times. Today, they continue to create and record original songs as well as their own variations on timeless pieces that often span the ages of creativity in sound: "Storytelling and melody come together for a sound that embraces all that is Americana." –(Milwaukee’s Shepherd Express)

Honey Dew Drops: Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 7 pm

Laura Wortman and Kagey Parrish are the Honey Dewdrops: an award-winning, nationally touring husband and wife folk duet. They perform fresh, original songs focusing on vocal harmonies and tight instrumentation. Influenced by traditional Appalachian music as well as contemporary singer-songwriters, the Honey Dewdrops blend old styles with new– creating music that is powerful and heartfelt.

Pickin' Up Speed: Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 7 pm

This group of four musicians, plays traditional Bluegrass in the style made popular by Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys.

Moxie Chicks: Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 7 pm

The Moxie Chicks are all long-time members of Milwaukee’s acoustic music scene, having met each other at coffeehouses, music parties, and providing back-up work on various recording projects. Their musical motto is “Sweet harmony with an attitude!” and their swinging three-part harmony vocals liven up a wide variety of original, traditional, classic, and contemporary songs. In addition to their own compositions, the Moxie Chicks perform songs by the likes of Hank Williams, Gillian Welch, the Beatles, Paul Simon, Carole King, John Gorka, and Crosby Stills Nash & Young, as well as songs from other Milwaukee area songwriters.

David HB Drake: Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 7 pm

David has been called "a gentle troubadour" and "elemental folksinger". His music is inspired by his voyages across Midwestern prairies and the waters of the Great Lakes. He has performed for more than twenty-five years in a wide variety of art forms for all ages.
